Watercolour sketch.

Antique Bottle from my watercolour sketch book. Just a doodle. I have a nice little collection of antique bottles from my mother. Interesting that we have so many plastic bottles available today, yet something about these little bottles endure.

I think this one was originally used for Minard’s Liniment, for soothing penetrating pain relief from arthritis and muscular aches. From their website, it appears they no longer use these delightful bottles. I wonder how old this bottle might be?

Count my blessings that I don’t need to use it but good to know about it in the event that I ever do.

This is a small watercolour painting of one of the 24-or-so strawberries I picked from my garden today. I’ve been growing a type of perpetual strawberry for about three years (Fragoo) and now have a couple of patches to pick from. Delicious!

Tulip in a bottle

Just a doodle from last night. It is a wonderful time of year when fresh flowers from the backyard make their way inside as little still life illustration models. Some of them are very fast movers, like this tulip. I cut it yesterday and sketched it late at night so it wasn’t moving too much. But today, I can see that it is on the move, it’ll look a lot different by the end of the day.
