The art fair on Doyle Street continues through the Christmas season to December 21 so come on in and join us. One of the group’s artists is present every day and we are delighted to answer your questions about our work

The Doyle Street Art Fair is a group art show featuring new work by six local artists.

Participating artists include: Jeremy Akerman, Mary Ann Archibald, Sarah Jane Conklin, Brian Heighton, Jacqueline Steudler and J. Vincent Walsh.

The artists’ working styles range from abstract to realism and include sculptural as well as two dimensional pieces.

The show and sale runs November 15 through December 21st. The reception is November 16 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Doyle Street Art Fair is located at 5413 Doyle Street (next door to the Port of Wines in the former Italian Market space).

Tonight, the True Patriot Love Foundation, is holding a fundraising auction. They provided a hemet to paint. I am delighted to have painted William Hall, V.C. on this helmet.

A blue background represents William Hall, VC because when he was awarded his Victoria Cross, he displayed it proudly on his chest on a blue ribbon, to represent the Royal Navy. The front of the helmet is a small portrait of William Hall, with his signature above him. The right side represents his memorial in Hantsport, Nova Scotia, his hometown. The back of the helmet represents the Victoria Cross William Hall earned at Lucknow, India. The ship on the left hand side of the helmet represents HMS Shannon, which he served on during the Siege at Lucknow where he earned his Victoria Cross, Nova Scotia’s first recipient of such an award.

The Best of Zazzle Weekly picked up my White Lilac card as part of their reporting this week. I have a number of images that are used on Zazzle cards and other items. Their printing and card stock is very good quality. Locally though, I have signed, hand pulled cards, please visit the Bogside Gallery in the Hydrostone Market next time you’re in the city and you’re looking for a card with that special personal touch or other items by Atlantic artisans.

The original White Lilac oil painting will be available in June through my show at the Art Sales and Rental Gallery. See you then!
