“Show, don’t tell.” These are the words for a writer yet also apply to paint, the non-verbal communication of ideas, thoughts, life and times.
My paintings “show” something of life today. Sometimes commonplace, sometimes things that might only be noticed for a brief moment from the corner of an eye, sometimes with a story attached to explore overtime. They “speak” to you in a visceral form to enrich your life.
The common theme in my life’s work, whether it is in print or in paint, still life, portraits, or landscape, is life and living. The “as it happens” of walking the earth and the paths a life takes.
I understand that the mind processes about forty pieces of verbal information per second yet in the nonverbal mode, it processes more than 10 million pieces of information per second.
So, what I’m really trying to say is that I love paint as a medium of life because that’s where the memory and the magic happens.
