Mary Ann’s portraits, figurative, still life and landscape paintings are valued for their expressive, painterly and often lyrical qualities. She especially enjoys painting people and things from life and plein air landscapes. Her work is available in galleries and on this website.

Mary Ann has exhibited her original paintings in numerous group and solo shows in Halifax, Toronto and Salt Spring Island, British Columbia. Her portraits are held in private collections throughout North America and publicly in Canada. You can view her C.V. here.
In 2009 Democracy 250 commissioned Mary Ann to create William Hall, V.C.’s portrait, which hangs in the Nova Scotia legislature. In 2011, Lieutenant Governor, Her Honour, Mayan E. Francis’ office commissioned a figurative landscape portrait painting of William Hall, V.C., which hangs in the dining room of Government House in Halifax.
She has a life-long passion and broad interest in the arts and has studied fine art in the community, at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and privately in the United States. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Acadia University (Wolfville, Nova Scotia) and a bachelor of Journalism from University of Kings College (Halifax, Nova Scotia). She also holds a certificate in Project Management from Saint Marys University and a Train the Trainer certificate in adult education from Henson College (Halifax, Nova Scotia) along with a certificate in business from the former Maritime Business Academy (Halifax, Nova Scotia).
Her work in fine art and design are extensions of her skills in journalism and offline and online publishing.
